Activities - Deep Sky Observing
Written by Administrator

AAQ Deep Sky Observing Nights are sometimes held at Cunningham's Lookout near Warrill View. Directions on how to get there are given below.

  1. Drive west from Brisbane along the Ipswich Motorway.
  2. Turn left onto the Cunningham Highway (follow the signs for Warwick) .
  3. Drive south along the Cunningham Highway to Warrill View, a small town located approximately 19 km south from the turnoff to Amberley / Rosewood.
  4. Turn right at Warrill View into the Rosewood - Warrill View Road. The turnoff is located at the base of a short steep hill. (Note: If you have traffic immediately behind you it may be safer to continue driving along the Cunningham Highway through Warrill View and turn left into the Warrill View - Peak Crossing Road and then turn back onto the Cunningham Highway driving north to the Rosewood - Warrill View Road turnoff.)
  5. Drive approximately 3 km west along the Rosewood - Warrill View Road.
  6. Near the top of a hill turn left onto an unsealed track leading to Cunningham's Lookout (has two sheltered picnic tables that can be seen from the Rosewood - Warrill View Road).
